Charleston, South Carolina

I spent the day in one of my favorite places in the world - Charleston, South Carolina. I was Second Shooting a social event at the beautiful Charleston Renaissance Hotel in the Historic District. Before the late night drive home I decided to take advantage of the beautiful scenery and practice my HDR photography. HDR stands for “High Dynamic Range” and it creates photos with gorgeous, impossible detail and clarity. It is an art form of its own almost guaranteeing that no two photos will ever look alike.

Furman University Campus

Furman University is one of the nation's premier undergraduate liberal arts colleges. The campus is nationally acclaimed for its beauty. Founded in 1826, the private university is located in Greenville, South Carolina. The 750-acre campus features an Asian garden, a replica of Henry David Thoreau's cabin, the David E. Shi Center for Sustainability, a Florentine bell tower, a spring-fed lake, an award winning Rose Garden, 13 miles of paved trails through the woodlands, and an 18-hole golf course.

HDR photography stands for “High Dynamic Range”. It creates photos with gorgeous, impossible detail and clarity. It is an art form of its own almost guaranteeing that no two photos will ever look alike.

Jamie Turner

I recently had the honor of assisting the great Dan Harvell Photography and Graphics on a nighttime shoot in Greenville. It was great to work with Dan who has served the upstate with over 30 years of photography expertise. The focus of the shoot was Light Painting which results when a handheld light source - usually a flashlight of some kind - is used in a darkroom or outside at night to illuminate a subject. I was the "painter" therefore, I didn't get any shots from that segment of the session but I did have the opportunity to get a few portrait shots of the lovely Jamie Turner. We instantly connected because I love clients who are fun and friendly and she was both! But, don't let this pretty face fool you. Not only is Jamie beautiful she is also athletic and a successful Sheriff's Deputy for an upstate law enforcement agency. It was a great experience and I love making new friends.

Todd Williams

"We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give." - Winston Churchhill

This week I had the privilege of photographing an amazing photographer - Todd Williams of Magnolia Studios. We met almost two years ago as I was completing my third photography class and I was eager to learn as much as I could. Todd gave me the opportunity to Second Shoot with him and since then has generously shared with me his own knowledge and experience as a wedding photographer. Much of my professional growth I attribute to his kindness and encouragement along my journey. I am blessed to call him my mentor and friend!

Walker & Ryan

"Sometimes being a brother is better than being a superhero"

Out of all the sibling relationships I think I admire the relationship between an old brother and younger sister the most. Some of the fondest memories I have as a child were with my big brother Tracy. He was three years older than me and I thought he hung the moon. He was brother, protector and playmate to my sister and I. He passed away when we were young but I still remember every detail about him and will always keep his memory alive in my heart. Photographing the adorable Walker and Ryan brought back such sweet memories. They are typical brother and sister, loving on each other one minute and the next competing for who could climb the highest on the nearby rocks. Their cute personalities made this such a fun session and I absolutely loved their outfits!
